Join us to Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Perth Commonwealth Games!

Today the streets surrounding Beecroft Park are a beloved home and social hub within our Town, but back in 1962 their construction heralded a world-first: A custom-built Athlete’s Village for the teams competing in the VII British Empire and Commonwealth Games.

2022 marks 60 years since the Commonwealth Games rocketed Perth onto the international stage.

To celebrate, Cambridge Library has developed a 15-stop online multimedia Walking Trail showcasing the athletes, architecture and community spirit of City Beach.

Learn about Dawn Fraser’s mattress rebellion, discover which athletes were sleeping in your bed and relive the memories of local volunteers whose passion and dedication made the Games a resounding success.

We invite you to put on your walking shoes for a FREE guided tour of a selection of key Trail sites.
